My Personal Statement
I was born in Tecate Baja California, Mexico in 1990. My childhood was kind of poor because I didn’t have the stuff that I have today. I never regretted that because I had my family and that’s all I needed in order to be happy. I moved from Mexico to San Diego because we had economic problems and my parents wanted to give me a better life. I have attended to Balboa Elementary, Memorial, Clark, and Hoover. I had to face many challenges and went trough many struggles learning how to speak, read, and write English. A mentor I had trough those years was a teacher called Mr. Medrano because he would help me on all my struggles and he was an influence to my life.
A major obstacle I face in my life was learning how to read but thanks to my hard work I accomplished it. Another obstacle was learning how to speak English the right way but with the help of friends and family I overcame these problems. My favorite activity today is soccer. I played soccer for school as a junior and when the season was over I got into the school soccer club named San Diego Select and I hope to play again this year. My accomplishments at Hoover High School are to pass all of my classes up to now.
My favorite school activities would be AOIT and soccer. I enjoy being in the AOIT program because I get to do a lot of work on computers and I also learn a lot of new technology stuff. Soccer has always been my favorite one because it will keep me away from stress or any problem I have, it will keep me in shape, and I really enjoy playing it no matter on what occasion. I believe that coming to San Diego from Mexico helped me become a better person because here I learned about respect and how to appreciate things and also to be responsible when over there I just did whatever I wanted or didn’t listen to other because I was kind of rebel.
What I hope to accomplish in high school is to pass all my classes and graduate with good grades. After high school I want to go to college and get a good education and career for a good future in my life. I think educational goals are when you reach something you couldn’t reach before. In ten years, I see myself having a good career as an engineer because that is what I’d like to be in the future so that when I have a family I could support them.
Jesus!
It’s great to find out more of who you really are. It was Interesting reading your personal statement. I would have never known any of these things. I do really hope you accomplish all of your goals! Just remember that I believe in you! It is really great that you joined AOIT, I’m sure you have found an interest in technology. It is also great that you are no longer a rebel, you little delinquent. I know how hard it is to learn to speak and different language, I went through it myself, I too had trouble learning English, let alone read it. But you know in the end it was all worth it!
